No School Tomorrow

Dear all,

I hope you are all well.

There are snow days.  There are days when the day is too hot to have school.  I even remember a day with too much wind.  Yet, tomorrow is a first for the children.  Tomorrow school is cancelled because of the fire danger.

Tomorrow the wind is supposed to shift to come from the North.  It has the danger of pushing the fire in our direction.  Given that this particular fire has already burned 350,000 acres we probably want to stay out of its way.

Over the past couple of weeks we have felt like we were reliving the Clash song, "should I stay or should I go?"  Yet, I think tomorrow we will once again head out to downtown Melbourne and out of the woods and the hills.

Be well,

Nord

This is so...not normal. Just wait until winter the wild icy winds and the snow... Just kidding.

I remember when I lived in LA (4th-6th grade), we would get "smog days" off from school: when the smog was so bad, people were told (by radio and tv alerts) to avoid contact with the outside air that day. I remember our pool being covered in soot every morning. Instead of skimming out leaves, my dad would have to skim out the soot.

But only once did we have to leave school early because there was a wild fire across the street from our school.

I'm so sorry you have to go through this. And I'm so thankful you have such amazing Australian Guardians.
